Since we are not earning as much as we use to from Google’s Adsense program, we decided to start experimenting by joining other advertising networks.
WidgetBucks had created a huge buzz among webmaster’s circles everywhere with their crazy ads and promises of a high cost per thousand impressions (CPM) and a $25 sign-up bonus and quickly became the “Internet’s fastest growing ad network.” These banners feature pay-per-click shopping widgets that instantly display the most popular products based on buying trends of 100 million shoppers.
We joined them early on… just a few weeks after they launched in Oct. and have stayed with them through their early growing pains they would have to face. We persevered issues they faced such as the accusations of being a “scam”, non-English sites, international traffic, etc., and found they would address these in due time. Their problems were nothing that any of the other major ad networks dealt with in their early years.
Most of their problems did not affect us much as we have English only sites which have a majority of U.S. Traffic. The only problem we really experienced with these widgets was with their slow loading times. This would cause the whole page to freeze up for a second or two. We quickly overcame this by placing their ad code within an IFrame.
So after using WidgetBucks on a few sites for the past two months, I have found that although they may not be producing the earnings they bragged about at first, they can earn more than other ad networks and make a great addition to the other advertisers we use.
