ShowMeYourPix has surely evolved over the years and has been the basis for my addiction to the internet and my start as a webmaster.
I began this site during the late 90′s using the few megabytes of free web space provided by my ISP and the help of Netscape’s Composer. This web site began as a way to show off my photography skills to possible clients and to the world and has evolved greatly since.
Not content with the site’s appearance, I dove into the code and began to hack away piece by piece at each HTML tag. I quickly learned some “cool tricks” and that there was much more I could do than those HTML editors produced. I was hooked.
I soon decided that having my own domain name and real web hosting would do wonders for my site. I purchased the name PhotosByRay.net and some cheap hosting that would provide the opportunity to host a dynamic PHP site. I began to learn many more skills which opened up a lot more possibilities and I coult not stop there.
Looking around at other successful sites of the times, I noticed that people liked interactivity with the sites they visited. I then decided to change the focus of my site and offered everyone the opportunity to participate and contribute to the site. I purchase a new domain to reflect these changes.
ShowMeYourPix members can post their own works of art and share with the community and the world. The site is geared towards the serious hobbyist to the professional photographer and features many photo galleries, news of interest, and a forum to ask your photography questions or to just chat with other photographers worldwide.
