My Static to WordPress Conversion Project

I recently acquired another website to add to my collection. The overall appearance wasn’t too bad, but it still looked kind of “spammy” to me. I figured a good face lift was in order.

The site was basically setup as an ecommerce website to sell products to smokers interested in quitting. My goal was to convert this “infomercial” into something more serious and professional looking… hoping to gain a better flow of traffic and thus increase the sales.

AshtrayBreath.comI have used many different types of content management scripts throughout the years and have been a regular WordPress user with my projects. I figured that would be the perfect answer for this website. My experience using this software has been nothing but positive. It would be the perfect choice to increase the site’s organization, make it easier for visitors to navigate, increase organic traffic and improve its SEO.

Although things did not go as quickly as I was hoping for… such as figuring out why the links in the flash banner worked on some pages and not others and also spending too many hours hacking away to perfect a few pieces of code. In the end, everything came together and my goals for a better website were achieved. I have already noticed an increase in organic search engine traffic from my SEO efforts.

AshtrayBreath.comPlease note that I can not take credit for the cool banner there. It was created by a flash pro for the previous site owner. The only photoshop work I did for this website was the bookmark icon (which I made to match the RSS feed icon) and the favicon.
